UWHIPHOP.com

Check out the new "On Wisconsin" remix, created by some very talented UW madison students.

Thriller Halloween

This is it

Yesterday evening around 7pm, I had the opportunity to go watch the Michael Jackson documentary "This is it". After waiting for about a hour and a half and watching a 11 year old boy with his Halloween costume as the "king of Pop" had me so excited to see MJ at his last moments. Not to spoil it for those who wish to see it, I can truly say that I have a new level of respect for Michael. His work ethic is remarkable and his spirit is warming. For those of you who aren't sure if your a fan of Michael or not go see this movie and you "WILL" have a new perspective of this Man. All I can say is that I miss you Michael and may your message and love live on.

Rise of a forgotten Swag

So after re-connecting with my roots in Sunny California, I cant help but to mention about the returning popularity of gangsta music. We all remember the young Snoop, Dr. Dre (still waiting for "Detox" lol), NWA and all the memorable groups that put a lil bit of thug in our lives. Now the LA music scene is returning to its roots besides the Jerkin movement. With the now popular Nispey Hussle, Young Mav, Jay Rock and other young talented artist it looks like a bright future for the LA "Gangsta" music.

Quotes to get the creativity runnin

Today's quote doesn't come from a rapper or even a hip hop artist. The quote I wanted to share with everyone is from someone who I would call a living inspiration to dream big. For all you aspiring artist and avid followers of Hip Hop I wanted to find out what our President thinks about the movement. So ladies and G's I present to you words of wisdom from Commander in Chief President Barack Obama.

"The thing about hip-hop today is it's smart, it's insightful. The way they can communicate a complex message in a very short space is remarkable." ~President Barack Obama

Debut of a new artist

The whole purpose of this Blog is to provide exposure to new and up coming artist. The first artist is up and coming from Madison, Wisconsin. In my opinion her sound expresses her prima donna mentality. Her name is "Kiwi" (Parveen Verma) she is of Indian descent and can rap as well as stand her own ground like the best of them. This 24 year old diva is ready for the spotlight and is determined to get her name out there. In her own word she Say's "GOT MY FEET ON DA GROUND, MY HEAD UP TO DA SKY... HATERS LUV ME CUZ I'M SO FLY", enough words to express her confidence that manifests through her music and on the stage. She will be performing next at "THE 500 CLUB" FRIDAY OCT. 9TH 155 BRAUN RD. OREGON, WI. Definitely go check out her performance Friday and check her music out @ www.myspace.com/swaggasocold

Gangsta Sunday Quote

So everyday I put up a motivational quote to inspire my followers, but since I'm doing this seven times a week I feel the need say "Hey, I need to hear some gangsta sh!t to keep me pushin". So Ladies and G's, I present "Gangsta Sunday Quotes".

I wanted to start out with an artist who not only motivated the creative juices inside but the Inner Thug in all of us. Showing some Cali Love I present words of wisdom from Mr. Tupac Shakur.

"I believe that everything you do bad comes back to you. So everything that I do that's bad, I'm going to suffer for it. But in my heart, I believe what I'm doing... is right. So I feel like I 'm going to heaven. I think heaven is just when you sleep, you sleep with a good conscience, you don't have nightmares. Hell is when you sleep, the last thing you see is all the fucked up things you did in your life and you just see it over and over again, cause you don't burn. If that's the case, it's hell on earth cause bullets burn." ~ Tupac Shakur

P.s. I would like to give a shout out to my home girl Lorenz for the suggestion on the quote. Everyone go check out her blog @ http://i-am-delosangeles.blogspot.com/ she is a very talented writer who has a lot to share with the world, and to my ninja Angel for the idea of Gangsta Sunday Quotes.

Quotes to get the creativity runnin

Today's Quote is from a Brooklyn Rapper who's name explains his unique style. His first name means "Student or Seeker" (in Arabic) and the his middle name means "true" (in Swahili). His name illustrates both logic and individuality behind the music. Ladies and Gents I present words of wisdom from Mr. Talib Kweli.

The beautiful thing about hip-hop is it's like an audio collage. You can take any form of music and do it in a hip-hop way and it'll be a hip-hop song. That's the only music you can do that with.
~Talib Kweli

Quotes to get the Creativity Runnin

So today's Quote comes from one of the illest rappers out right now. He's an CEO, Artist and Entrepreneur . Ladies and Gents I present words of wisdom from Mr. Jay-Z

"They say a midget standing on a giant's shoulders can see much further than the giant. So I got the whole rap world on my shoulders, they trying to see further than I am." - Jay-Z

And the Winner Is........

So it was announced today that the 2016 Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil. The four city finalist before the decision was Chicago, USA; Tokyo, Japan; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Madrid, Spain. Its sad to say after all the efforts of our nations President and his wife to try and convince the 2016 Olympic committee that Chicago would be the perfect Host for the 2016 Olympics. Not only would it be awesome to have the Olympics once again on US soil but it would definitely help out with the financial crisis the country's going through, but none the less Congratulations to Brazil.... Oh yeah FYI Brazil will be the first South American country to host the Olympics.

Quotes to get the creativity runnin

For today's quote i wanted to use something by an artist who has influenced young artist's and artist of her own period to change the norm and never settle. Ladies and Gentlemen Mrs. Queen Latifah

"There’s still plenty to do. I think I’ll never run out of things to accomplish, as long as I’m alive, because there’s so much to learn, and so much to do. I always feel like I have so much further to go, personally, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically."

-Queen Latifah
